Water Categories
A practical guide to what you're buying.
Different water serves different purposes. This guide explains how Fontana Blu categorizes supplier listings and how to choose well.
Important: Fontana Blu classifies water based on information disclosed by suppliers. We do not test water ourselves and do not certify any water as safe or suitable for drinking. For drinking applications, please verify treatment and testing evidence directly with the supplier.
Drinking-Water Refills
- Typical treatment
- Suppliers may describe methods such as filtration, reverse osmosis, UV or ozone treatment.
- Appropriate uses
- Intended by the supplier for drinking and cooking. Ask for evidence of treatment or testing.
- Storage
- Use clean, food-grade, sealed containers. Keep out of direct sunlight and use within a reasonable time.
Packaged Water
- Typical format
- Sealed bottled or other packaged-water products.
- Checks
- Review the label, seal, source and available testing or compliance evidence.
- Note
- A supplier label alone does not guarantee safety or suitability. Fontana Blu packaged-water products are future services.
Household / Domestic-Use Water
- Typical sources
- Boreholes, municipal lines or harvested rainwater.
- Appropriate uses
- Cleaning, laundry, sanitation and general household tasks.
- Note
- Do not assume suitability for drinking without appropriate treatment and testing evidence.
Non-Potable Bulk Water
- Typical delivery
- Tanker collection or supplier-arranged large-volume delivery.
- Appropriate uses
- Supplier-declared non-drinking applications such as construction; confirm suitability for the specific use.
- Note
- Confirm source, volume and intended use with the supplier.
Agricultural / Irrigation Water
- Typical delivery
- Supplier-specific process, irrigation or other specialized supply.
- Considerations
- Mineral profile and salinity can affect crops and soil — ask for any available analysis.
- Note
- Generally not intended for human consumption.
